The Metacom Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established with a mission to empower previously disadvantaged women through education in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and related fields.

We believe that ICT is an essential part of growth in the new digital era of technological innovation, and our focus is on educating ambitious young women to become innovative thought leaders and positive agents of change in their communities.

Our Vision
Our vision is to educate and inspire women in ICT in order to drive positive change in society. We strive to equip young women with the skills and tools to become innovative thought leaders who are able to reach their full potential and uplift themselves and their communities.

Our Mission
The Metacom Foundation is more than just a bursary, it is a program that equips women with the tools and guidance to better their lives and uplift their communities. We also provide emotional and well-being support so that students have the guidance to be successful and make the most of their education. This will be done through tutoring, mentors, and wellness sessions, as well as students being assigned a ‘big sister’ - one who has previously been successful within the program and will give back by mentoring the younger students.

Program Details
The Metacom Foundation program is designed to empower young women in the field of Information and Communication Technology and related fields through academic funding, mentorship, and emotional and well-being support.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must:
  • Be a woman of colour, in the age range of 18-27
  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be pursuing a bachelor's degree in ICT or a related field (Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, etc.)
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstrate academic potential and ambition
The application process for the Metacom Foundation program involves submitting an online application form, providing proof of enrolment and financial need, and participating in an interview. Successful applicants will receive academic funding for the duration of their studies, as well as ongoing mentorship and emotional and well-being support.
